Kupała Night: Midsummer Love Magic in Slavic Tradition
Fire, wreaths and the fern flower

On the shortest night of the year, Slavic villages once lit great fires by the water. Kupała Night belonged to love, light and luck.
Wreaths on the water
Young women floated flower wreaths down the river. Where a wreath drifted, and who caught it, was read as a sign of love to come.
The fern flower
Legend says a fern blooms only on this one night, and whoever finds it gains luck and hidden knowledge. No one has ever proven it, which is part of its charm.
Herbs of midsummer
Mugwort under the pillow for true dreams, and St John's wort gathered when the sun is strongest.
In Haggath's work
Haggath offers a Kupała Night love spell inspired by this midsummer fire and wreath tradition. See it in her shop.
