A candle just blown out

Colour is the first decision in most candle work. These are common meanings in Southern folk practice.

  • White — cleansing, peace, ancestors; it can stand in for any colour.
  • Red — passion, courage, strength.
  • Pink — tenderness, friendship, self-love, reconciliation.
  • Green — money, work, growth.
  • Yellow — clarity, success, a good mood in the home.
  • Blue — calm, healing, honest communication.
  • Purple — intuition and spiritual power.
  • Black — protection, banishing, ending what harms you.

Simple rules

  1. Pick one colour per intention.
  2. Hold the candle and state the purpose before lighting.
  3. Never leave a flame unattended; snuff rather than blow out if you plan to relight.

When you want Celeste to do the work

Everything above is yours to practise at home. If you would rather have Celeste prepare the work for you, Celeste chooses the candles, herbs and words for each spell she composes — composed by hand at her table in New Orleans and delivered privately as a PDF to your email. Visit Celeste's shop.
