Energy Hygiene: A Daily Clearing

Five minutes to put down what is not yours

Carrying a colleague's panic all afternoon is not a spiritual failing; it is a habit. And like any habit, it can be reversed with something small and repeatable.

Morning: set the boundary before the day

  1. Stand at the window with both feet flat. Three slow breaths.
  2. Say out loud, in your own words: "What is mine, I carry. What is not mine, I do not carry."
  3. Wash your hands to the wrist in cool water and shake them dry.

The words matter less than the saying of them out loud. A boundary nobody has spoken is a wish.

Evening: put the day down

  1. Take off the clothes you wore outside and put them in one place — not on the bed, not on the floor.
  2. Wash your hands and your face.
  3. Sit for two minutes and name, silently, the three moments today that cost you something. Then let each one finish.

Naming them is the clearing. Most of what sits on us is unnamed, so it keeps looping.

Weekly: the room, not just you

Open a window wide for ten minutes with a candle lit in the room. Clear one surface. A room holding last week arguments will keep handing them back to you.

How you know it is working

Not by feeling floaty. By catching yourself mid-absorption — noticing at 3pm that your chest is tight with someone else deadline — and being able to set it down in the same breath.

When a clearing stops being enough and something is genuinely stuck, that is the point to ask for help. Kiki works personalized cleansing by hand in Manhattan. See the cleansing workings at Kiki Aura Studio.
