How Haggath Prepares a Candle Ritual
Cleansing, beeswax and plain words

People often wonder what really happens when a spell is cast for them. Haggath is open about it.
First, the room is cleansed
Before any candle is lit, she sweeps the floor toward the door, opens the window and passes mugwort smoke through the room. "You would not cook in a dirty pot."
Beeswax, never paraffin
Her candles are beeswax, from a local beekeeper, a natural material she prefers for her work.
Dressing the candle
The candle is dressed with oil and herbs chosen for the purpose: lovage for love, rue for protection.
Speaking plainly
The intention is spoken simply and clearly. No theatre, just the old words and the work done by hand.
