The New Moon Intention Candle
Planting a wish in the dark of the moon

The new moon is for beginnings. Haggath says it is like sowing seed in dark soil: you will not see it for a while, but it is there.
What you need
- A plain beeswax candle
- A pin or small knife
- A few drops of olive oil
- A pinch of a herb that matches your wish (lovage for love, dill for protection, St John's wort for joy)
The steps
- Write your wish in one short sentence.
- Carve a single word from it into the candle, top to bottom.
- Rub oil from the middle outward, then roll the candle lightly in the herb.
- Light it, read your sentence aloud, and let it burn for as long as you can safely watch it.
- Snuff (don't blow) it out and relight it each night until the full moon.
Never leave a candle burning unattended. Beeswax candles and herb blends are available in Haggath's shop.
