The Crossroads Spread: Three Cards for a Difficult Choice
What is here, what is hidden, what is next.

A difficult choice rarely becomes easier because we think about it for the hundredth time. Sometimes it helps to change the shape of the conversation. This three-card exercise uses tarot as a reflection tool: not a command, not a forecast, but a way to look at a crossroads from three different angles.
Prepare a quiet surface
You need a deck, paper, and ten uninterrupted minutes. No special cloth, crystal, or candle is required. Write the decision in ordinary language: “I am considering applying for a new role,” rather than “What is my destiny?” If the decision involves health, money, or legal matters, gather qualified advice separately.
Lay out three positions
- What is here: draw a card for the circumstances you are already aware of.
- What needs attention: draw a card for an assumption, tension, or overlooked concern.
- One useful next step: draw a card for an action you can consider—not an instruction you must obey.
Look at the images before reaching for a guidebook. What catches your eye? A person walking away might remind you of avoidance; a crowded scene might bring up competing obligations. These are associations, not evidence of hidden facts.
Translate symbols into something practical
Suppose a card makes you think of boundaries. Write “ask about working hours” rather than “the universe says quit.” If another brings up rest, write “sleep on the decision and review it tomorrow.” Each interpretation should survive contact with the facts. A promising image does not erase an unaffordable price or a worrying contract.
Close without another draw
Write one thing the exercise clarified, one thing still uncertain, and one action you can take this week. Put the deck away. Repeatedly drawing until you receive a reassuring answer can make uncertainty louder rather than quieter.
